SNW

January, February and March 2002 were the warmest beginning to any year since records began and this, together with a demonstrable increase in average temperatures in the region, are signs that the climate is changing. Level of winter reainfall have been increasing, and recent flooding and periods of drought only serve to underline the changing nature of our climate which could lead to stormier more unpredictable weather. Summary information and links to all climate change research relevant to the Northwest has been presented to allow the user to quickly sift through projects to unearth the information most useful to them.

The information presented has been produced in response to an information gap identified by the
Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU
). The RIU recognised the need to collate expert information
on climate change for the Northwest.
